Most support tasks can be done by providing login details to your domain registrar, web host, Google or other third-party application accounts. You may provide those details preemptively at the start of services, or provide those details as needed.
For those that want fewer barriers for quicker resolutions, we have a program that Website Owners can choose to download that allows Universal Code the ability to access settings on your personal computer. You will be directed to a download link, and you will install the application onto your Windows computer. Users will need to provide a signed copy of this policy before Universal Code will provide the download link. We offer limited support options for Mac and Linux users.
Unless otherwise stated ahead of time, we will always ask before we access your computer and we will record our sessions. You may request access to our recording and or activity log. We may blackout the screen if there are times we need to enter private credential information. The recording will be held in local storage for 15 days, and then destroyed. Any requests after 15 days may have limited records available.
We will limit our activity to the scope of the task, and your content will be treated confidentially. The only exception is when evidence of a violent or sexually based crime is discovered through the course of normal support activity. Abby Peterson is the only person that has access to the software and hardware used to provide remote support.
Universal Code cannot be held liable for any complications that arise as a result of the agreed upon support tasks.
Basic Support Tasks
Universal Code is only able to provide support relating to your website, and cannot resolve internet connectivity and network issues, hardware, software or issues outside the scope of domain settings, hosting, and other website related applications.
By agreeing to the Unattended Remote Access Policy, you are allowing us access to the following areas unless otherwise stated in official communications.
- Access the Start Menu, Power Controls, Computer Settings, Control Panel, Task Manager, and Administrative Tools
- Universal Code may install Windows updates, configure security settings, end tasks, run optimizations, and restart the computer.
- Universal Code may install and uninstall agreed upon software.
- Universal Code may install a Chrome or Firefox browser, and/or add extensions, change brower settings, clear caches and cookies.
- Access to Local Storage folders located on the Desktop that store files relating to the website – backup files, assets, certifications, etc. or relevant applications. -> Access via This PC -> Desktop
- Universal Code will never access the Camera, Photos or Documents unless requested.
Access may be revoked at any time before, during or after a session. To revoke access, send an official communication and or uninstall the application by accessing your Control Panel via the search function in your Start Menu. Find the link to Uninstall Programs, and select the Zoho Assist application to uninstall.
