Website Build Projects

Before the Build

Preboarding Form

Start the quote process by completing the preboarding form. The answers to the preboarding questions will help give us an idea of your goals and vision. The information provided in the form will be used to build the proposal, so more details will ensure an accurate, personalized proposal.

Review Proposal

It will take about a week to develop the proposal, as we want to do the preliminary research to help provide appropriate recommendations. Some projects and goals may require or benefit from different approaches, and our services are created to be flexible to help our website owners find the solution that works for their situation.

Consultation Meeting

Once you have been able to review the proposal, we will have a meeting to discuss any questions and work out the path forward. You'll never be pushed a sales pitch, we know there is a lot to consider. No commitments will be made during this consultation, take advantage of the opportunity to get some of your questions answered.

Accept Agreement

The Contract is provided with the Proposal and discussed during the consultation, and any changes to the previously submitted agreement will be updated with a new proposal and contract. Once you are happy with the details of the deal and a contract is signed, the Onboarding process begins.

Take a look at our Project Folder.

We use Notion for the bulk of our project management tasks, and the Project Folder contains the details our website owner's need to know throughout the process. From the Project Folder Home Page you can track milestone tasks, view build reports and reference your Proposal.

Milestones

Onboarding

During the Onboarding Phase all relevant information is collected and the project documents and folders are created. This step usually takes 1-2 weeks and the website owner will be responsible for completing the Onboarding Form and reviewing the Milestone Tasks.

Discovery

We approach our projects with a healthy humility, which means it is important for us to take the time to do the research and ensure the foundation of the website is solid. During this time we are doing market research, finding search engine keywords, creating mood boards and collecting project assets - this usually takes 2 weeks.

Design

The 2 week Design Phase expands on the Discovery Phase to include a Style Guide that displays the colors, fonts, icons and graphics that may be used throughout the project. Templates are started and the first review is submitted before the Development Phase begins.

Development

The bulk of the website build will mostly occur throughout the Development Phase, making it the longest phase of the project with a minimum of 4 weeks for Standard Website Builds. Weekly Build Reports are sent to the website owner to keep the website owner up to date and maintain routine communications.

Review

Once the website has been mostly completed, a final review is sent to the website owner. Two weeks are budgeted for review and revisions are completed over two weeks, and each project includes 2 rounds of revisions, which means this phase could take up to 8 weeks. However, the timeline is determined by the response times and revisions requested, and this phase could last as little as 2-4 weeks.

Launch

Once the final revisions have been accepted, the website is ready to launch. Universal Code offers a range of after care services, making the launch seamless. For those that choose to host elsewhere, our Hand-Off Process will help make the transition quick and easy. The entire process will take approximately 12 weeks for the Standard Build, but complex websites may take up to 6 months.
