What is Web Hosting?
Nearly all websites require paying for a web hosting service. Your website's content is stored on a server managed by a web host, and the server allows internet users access to your website. The web host is largely responsible for the website's speed and performance.
How to Choose
The web host is largely responsible for the website's speed and performance. There are three primary types of hosting: Shared, VPS and Dedicated. These three levels of web hosting make it easier to scale your site and get the server space that best fits your current situation.

Shared Hosting Plans
Shared hosting has made owning a website easier than ever by drastically lowering the cost of web hosting, starting at only a couple of dollars a month in some cases. The costs are so low because websites are sharing resources within the server. While shared hosting is great for small brochure sites that don't have a lot of dynamic data or features, it can cause problems for websites when other sites are eating up the communal resources. Websites on shared servers risk disruption and lag, which can severely limit feature-rich websites with a lot of dynamic data.
Virtual Private Servers
A compromise between shared and dedicated hosting, VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. Like shared hosting, websites are sharing server resources, but with the benefits of dedicated hosting due to the resources being partitioned so each website has independent space. Being able to divy up the server space makes the website much more reliable, but also makes the website scalable as there are up to 10 levels to allow websites the ability to scale up or down as needed.
Dedicated Servers
A compromise between shared and dedicated hosting, VPS stands for Virtual Private Server. Like shared hosting, websites are sharing server resources, but with the benefits of dedicated hosting due to the resources being partitioned so each website has independent space. Being able to divy up the server space makes the website much more reliable, but also makes the website scalable as there are up to 10 levels to allow websites the ability to scale up or down as needed.
