Notion is a note-taking and data management tool that we use to help present information to the website owner. We create a Project Home Page that acts as the project hub, it lists all of the important links and content that will be referenced even after the project is completed.
We highly recommend adding the Project Home Page to your bookmarks or favorites.
Here we have an example of the table of contents, which contains a link to the payment portal, Proposal & Statement of Work, Reviews, and the Website Owner’s Handbook. You can also navigate these pages using the sidebar menu located to the left – mouse over to the left edge if you don’t see it.
These pages are part of your Project Home Packet and provide a vast amount of information about the process, the technical details, and the requests and tasks.
Databases
Universal Code takes advantage of Notion’s powerful databases and uses a number of databases to manage administrative and creative tasks.
Databases may have different views to display different details. This Assets database has a Gallery View, shown above. This view shows the categories of assets – Sections & Copy, Typography, Logos, Icons, Colors, Backend Assets and Tone & Voice.
The Assets Database has other views to display the copy sections, assigned assets and identity items. The views can be changed using the tabs (or down arrow if the tabs are collapsed) at the top of the database.
To get more details about an item in the database, hover over the title and you will find that an open button appears. This allows you to see and add content relating to each item.
Adding and Editing
Some tasks may be completed through Notion using templates created by us to get specific details needed for your project. An example of a template for details relating to portfolio projects.
Some prompts are common templates and some were customized to collect information specific to the project.
Add your text directly to the Notion page, and add a new template by clicking on the +Add New line at the bottom. Add as much information as possible to help flesh out your website’s content.
